Hey Family,
I am sure some of you are shocked that there is a new blog so soon most of you who follow my blog’s are use to my inconstant-ness when it comes to me writing blogs. In all seriousness the Lord has been doing amazing work over here in Bulgaria and I am stoked to share it with you who I call my family.
As most of you know with me changing organization the focus of my part in what the Lord is doing over here has shifted a tad but for the better I believe. Often times I have found that we feel a pull or a tug in our hearts which is the Lord telling us to do something but then we tend to jump ahead of the gun and take matters in to our own hands with out even really realizing it. We may have one conclusion about what the Lord is doing in a specific circumstance but in all reality he might be wanting to pull us in a different direction. Proverbs 19:21 says, ” Many are the plans in a man’s heart but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 16:1-2 says, ” All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighted by the Lord commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed.” Give your plans to the Lord keep a sensitive heart towards his pull and tug in your life but do all that you do for him. Paul wrote in 1 Corr. 15 ” I die everyday” give your life to Christ daily give your will to Christ daily and come along for the adventure. You can check out more about just some stuff along these lines that I have been chewing on, on a facebook note I wrote. What I was getting at before that detour we just took above was that a lot of what I do is completely different from what I was doing prior to my switch in organizations. Like I said in my last blog I am a man of many titles at the moment and it really has been a crazy adventure but I am enjoying working for a spirit fed Church. I thank God daily for giving me the gift to work in full time ministry despite its hardships at time (for those of you in full time ministry you know what I am talking about). I have been privileged to be helping take care of short term mission teams that have come. They are truly a blessing to not only me but to the Bulgarians for one major reason that I am sure they are not even aware of and to be honest I was not aware of until one of the youth kids said it a few weeks back. This youthy told me that the excitement, love, passion that short term missionaries have excites the Bulgarians to be Bulgarian and to live in Bulgaria. For those of you who have worked over here in Bulgaria especially with the youth you know that most youth kids want out asap and hate it here for many reasons of which are understandable. So for those of you who have done short term missions here I want to thank you for this blessing and gift that the Lord has used you to accomplish that I am sure you were not even aware of. If you have not come on a short term mission here or if you would like to we can always set something up we would love to have you out here. you can contact me on facebook: Kenne Probst Skype: kenne.probst Email : kenneprobst@yahoo.com
Something amazing we just did this past monday with the last short term mission team that was here was a kids fest in a local park. Our plan is to go out every other sunday and just bring games and spend time with the kids start to earn not only their trust but the trust of the parents and then do a VBS themed kids fest in a few weeks there. This time we had a grip of kids show up we got to spend time with the parents and if I am not mistaken a few of them said they would like to come to church on Sunday so I am stoked to here that. I was really busy playing with the kids so I don’t know exactly how the conversations went. But I got to introduce myself to them and told them what I do here and that I would be teaching their kids on Sunday and what not. Besides the Kids Fest we did in the park I recently got connected with some new missionaries who want to work with Roma so we are going to start working with them and with Pastor Dinko and get everyone connected and start going out and doing constant ministry within the Roma Communities. I ask you to keep this in prayer because this is something I am stoked about
So as far as my youth group despite the hardships of getting it started we are still chugging along. Proverbs 16:32 ” Better a patient man then a warrior a man who controls his temper then one who takes a city.” I am just giving the group to the lord and asking for his direction. I am working with the National Overseer of Youth Ministry for the Church of God and I am in hopes of possibly taking a month going to different Roma Communities and doing youth events there and then planning something big here in Sofia and starting the youth group this way. if you have any suggestions let me know because I am open to anything!
Pastor Dinko and I have been tossing around the idea of how to help the homeless here considering our office is in the center of Sofia and we have come up with a few ideas. This Fri. we are going out and we will put a few care packages together and hand them out just spend some time with them. We have showers here we will offer those to them so they can clean up. We will offer them some grub not only physically but spiritually ( if they would like of course). Another idea we have tossed around is handing out fliers and once every other sunday offering them showers, grub, simple care packages. This is something I also ask you all to keep in prayer.
Lastly I need some help. In my last blog I mentioned that we were going to start to try and develop a plan to start working to fight the human trafficking here in Bulgaria. We have spent time in prayer and done a ton of research and we are in desperate need of a connection with someone who is working with human trafficking in Europe to find out where to start. If you have any ideas about it also feel free to contact me at kenneprobst@yahoo.com
Well I hope ya’ll have a blessed week. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers and I ask that you continue you to. The Lord is doing great things here in Bulgaria I ask that you would continue to pray for Bulgaria as a nation , for its government, its people and just for the Amazing things the Lord is doing here. If you feel like the Lord is calling you to help support the work he is doing out here you can contact me at kenneprobst@yahoo.com or send support through shepherds staff at : http://www.shepsstaff.org/probst.aspx
